This twenty year old tawny port has an elegant bouquet of dried fruit and almonds which gives it its distinctive character. Elegant, velvety and concentrated on the palate, with a lingering finish.
ABOUT THE PRODUCER
Quinta do Noval lies in the Douro valley in Northern Portugal where it has produced great Port since 1715. It is one of the oldest port houses, and to many, possibly the greatest. Its uniqueness is that most of the ports are made from estate-grown fruit and, notably, all of the vintage Noval wines are from the single Quinta do Noval vineyard.
The awe-inspiring terraced vineyards of Noval are an infertile schist, and not so much soil as much as sheer rock. The elevation of the vineyards goes from just above river level to about 400 metres. The tremendous rewards of the work done at the estate are visible across the range of Noval ports, and have placed Noval a step ahead of everyone in the Douro.
